Chin Yeh pioneered the production of canned food featuring authentic Taiwanese cuisine.
In the beginning, the canned food industry engaged mostly in the preservation of boiled vegetables. Cans were imported in small quantities and at an expensive cost.
Chin Yeh Restaurant is Taiwan’s first banquet restaurant to offer Taiwanese cuisine. When the restaurant was established, Ms. Yun-Ying Shen kept introducing new dishes and modifying seasonings to satisfy consumers. Minced pork rice, radish omelet, oysters with black bean sauce, and sweet potato porridge were must-order dishes. Six years later, Ms. Shen came up with an idea that delicious cuisine should be accessible throughout Taiwan, not just served in the restaurant.
Therefore, Chin Yeh Restaurant applied its successful experiences to canned food by establishing Chin Yeh Foods Co., Ltd. which features minced pork, meat sauce, and steamed minced pork with pickles.
