Chin Yeh pioneered the production of canned food featuring authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

In the beginning, the canned food industry engaged mostly in the preservation of boiled vegetables. Cans were imported in small quantities and at an expensive cost.
Chin Yeh Restaurant is Taiwan’s first banquet restaurant to offer Taiwanese cuisine. When the restaurant was established, Ms. Yun-Ying Shen kept introducing new dishes and modifying seasonings to satisfy consumers. Minced pork rice, radish omelet, oysters with black bean sauce, and sweet potato porridge were must-order dishes. Six years later, Ms. Shen came up with an idea that delicious cuisine should be accessible throughout Taiwan, not just served in the restaurant.

Therefore, Chin Yeh Restaurant applied its successful experiences to canned food by establishing Chin Yeh Foods Co., Ltd. which features minced pork, meat sauce, and steamed minced pork with pickles.

In Taiwan, people observe a vegetarian regimen on the first day and the fifteenth day of the lunar calendar. As a devout Buddhist, Ms. Shen developed canned Vegetarian Gluten for vegetarians, who prior to that, only had choices of light vegetable and bean dishes. The canned vegetarian gluten was widely recognized by consumers and became a must-have canned product in households.

Upholding its passion for ingredients and the authentic flavors of Taiwanese cuisine, Chin Yeh has obtained the HACCP certification and organic food factory certification in order to continuously support local agriculture and provide safe and delicious food.

With its insistence on quality, Chin Yeh selects peanuts grown in Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan to make sweet and authentic canned food; Chin Yeh also produced Taiwan’s first canned organic sweet corn to preserve freshness and ensure safety. Local ingredients are carefully selected and immediately transported to the factory to maintain the original flavor and freshness.

Milestones

1964

Ms. Yun-Ying Shen founded Chin Yen Restaurant, Taiwan’s first banquet restaurant to offer Taiwanese cuisine.

1970

Founded in Pingzhen City, Taoyuan County, Chin Yeh Foods Co., Ltd. was a pioneer in producing canned gluten, minced pork, meat sauce, and steamed minced pork with pickles in Taiwan.

1970s

Peanut gluten and spicy gluten were launched. Business offices were established in North, Central, and South Taiwan.

1979

Chin Yeh became the most famous can brand in vegetable markets, and its gluten became the perfect match for porridge.
Widely Known

1980s

Woo Gwa, a famous artist in Taiwan, was invited to shoot the ad for minced pork. As of today, everyone is still familiar with the jingle and minced pork has become among the most convenient seasonings for home cuisine.

1984

Chin Yeh’s gluten product won the Excellent Specialty Food Award from the Agriculture and Food Agency.

1987

Chin Yeh won the Excellent Product Award from the Excellent Food and Equipment Development Committee.

1988
